Malachite Jewelry

Posted by Ryan Chappell on

It is not common to see malachite in jewelry but after seeing the swirls of brilliant green last year, Boom's eye was drawn to this unique gemstone and she has created a unique collection of pendants, bracelets and earrings from malachite.

The green color in malachite comes from the high copper content. Malachite has been mined for thousands of years to smelt down and obtain copper from but it is only more recently that it has been used for decorative purposes. The swirls and layers of dark to light green make this a wonderful gemstone because every piece is completely unique.

Malachite is mined many places in the world but the highest concentrations are found in Britain and Russia.
